Fatal Road Crash Claims 4 Lives, Injures 59 on Kaduna-Abuja Expressway

Tragedy struck on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway as at least four individuals lost their lives, and 59 others sustained injuries in a devastating road crash. The Sector Commander of the Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the incident.

 

The fatal accident involved a trailer (Iveco) with the registration number MKA 99YS and occurred around 03:30hrs on Tuesday at Sabon Sara village along the expressway. The combined rescue teams of RS1.113 Zhipe and RS1.17 Birnin Yero swiftly responded to the scene to conduct rescue operations.

 

Confirming the details, Nadabo stated, “Further investigation of the incident shows that 63 people were involved in the crash, 59 got injured, and sadly, 4 were deceased.” He informed that the injured victims were promptly transported to St. Gerard and AP Smart Hospitals, both located in Kakuri.

 

The initial findings from the investigation point to overloading of goods and passengers, coupled with driver fatigue, as the primary causes of the tragic crash.
