The Ministerial Task Force on City Sanitation and Management in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has issued a stern warning, declaring that more severe penalties will be imposed on those who violate the Abuja Master Plan in the coming year. Mr. Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of Development Control at the FCT Administration, delivered this caution during a media interaction after the committee’s end-of-year celebration in Abuja on Friday.
Galadima emphasized that Abuja’s development is intricately tied to the provisions of the Master Plan and other established guidelines, as it is a creation governed by law. He urged individuals intending to construct houses in Abuja to adhere to the Master Plan and other relevant guidelines. Furthermore, he stressed that businesses should operate in designated areas and contribute to maintaining the cleanliness of the city.
“Don’t just come in, generate waste and go. You must be part of the team poised to keep Abuja clean,” Galadima emphasized.
Explaining the purpose of the end-of-year celebration, he highlighted that it aimed to recognize the accomplishments of the task force in 2023. Galadima expressed the need for reflection on achievements, challenges, and future prospects, asserting that it was an opportunity for the team to engage in meaningful discussions beyond the daily work routine.
“It is not all about work, work, work. Sometimes we need to sit down and reflect; what successes have we recorded? What are our challenges? What prospect do we have ahead? So, we decided to talk to ourselves and enjoy the moment,” he explained.
