In a significant effort to empower the youth of Lagos, United Way Greater Nigeria, in collaboration with Rack Centre, has successfully equipped 150 young individuals from various communities across the city with essential digital skills through the Skill To Employment Programme (STEP).

The culmination of this initiative was celebrated at a graduation ceremony, marking a crucial milestone for the participants hailing from Ojota, Oregun, Ikeja, and Ogudu. These youths completed an intensive eight-week training program covering graphics design, digital marketing, front-end web development, as well as networking and security.

The organizers highlighted that the success of the program goes beyond graduation, as the participants have also secured valuable internship placements in organizations throughout the state. This practical exposure aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, facilitating a smoother transition into the workforce for the graduates.

As a recognition of outstanding achievements, some exceptional graduates were awarded laptops to support their ongoing learning and professional development. Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Deola Durodola, the Executive Director of United Way Greater Nigeria, expressed, “The Skill To Employment Programme exemplifies our commitment to fostering talents and empowering communities across the country.”

The initiative not only imparts valuable digital skills but also creates opportunities for the youth to thrive in the dynamic landscape of the digital era, contributing to their personal growth and the overall development of the communities involved.
