Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum in Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, has vehemently denied recent reports claiming she granted an interview in London where she allegedly made statements about her desire to return to Nigeria and disclosed details of alleged financial misconduct.

Alison-Madueke refuted the report, stating that she did not grant any interview and did not make the statements attributed to her. She described the news as “fake” and “concocted,” expressing bewilderment at the reasons behind its fabrication.

The alleged interview suggested that Alison-Madueke, currently facing corruption charges in Nigeria and the UK, expressed remorse, disclosed her health challenges, and sought forgiveness from President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians.

The former minister, who has been residing in the UK since 2015, maintains that the entire interview is a fabrication and misinformation. The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) had shared excerpts of the supposed interview on its Instagram handle. However, Alison-Madueke refutes these claims, emphasizing that she did not make any such statements.
