Governor Simi Fubara of Rivers State has granted approval for the disbursement of a Christmas bonus of N100,000 to civil servants on the government’s payroll.
Warisenibo Johnson, the Commissioner of Information and Communications, announced this in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that the governor endorsed the bonus payment to enable workers to enjoy a joyous Yuletide celebration this year.
The decision to provide a Christmas bonus follows the recent easing of political tensions in the oil-rich Rivers State. Governor Fubara’s approval for the bonus payment is seen as a gesture to enhance the festive season for civil servants.
This move comes in the wake of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention, where eight-point resolutions were brokered to resolve the impasse between Governor Fubara and the current Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Governor Fubara, commenting on the resolution of the crisis, emphasized the significance of prioritizing peace. He stated, “There is no price that will be too big to pay to ensure peace prevails.” The Christmas bonus is expected to bring a positive impact and festive cheer to the civil servants in Rivers State.
