The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has commended the efforts and steadfast dedication of 113 Generals of the Nigerian Army who are slated to retire or have retired this year at a ceremony held at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja. A Regimental Dinner Night was held in their honor on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, as a memorial to the departing senior officers.
The honorees comprised one General, one Lieutenant General, 67 Major Generals, and 44 Brigadier Generals, all of whom have completed their service to the nation with meritorious and dedicated commitment.
During the event, Minister Badaru expressed gratitude to the retiring officers for their sacrifices and contributions to the nation’s stability. He took the opportunity to assure them of the government’s commitment to ensuring the prompt payment of their pension entitlements.
The minister encouraged the retirees to carefully contemplate the next phase of their lives, acknowledging the significance of their service without blemish to the nation. The Regimental Dinner Night not only celebrated the distinguished careers of the retiring Generals but also underscored the government’s recognition of their valuable contributions to the Nigerian Army.
