India’s dynamic landscape, characterized by substantial advancements in productivity and technology, has propelled the nation into a robust phase of development. Economic reforms, particularly in key sectors such as digitization and infrastructure, have positioned India as a star performer on the global stage, contributing more than 16 percent to the anticipated global growth, as per the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Nada Choueiri, the Mission of India at IMF, shared insights in an interview with PTI, stating, “What we have been observing for quite some time now is that India has been growing at a very robust rate. It’s one of the star performers when it comes to real growth when you look at peer countries. It’s one of the fastest-growing large emerging markets and it’s contributing, in our current projections, more than 16 per cent of global growth this year.”

The IMF’s annual Article IV consultation with India highlights the country’s impressive trajectory, underscored by prudent macroeconomic policies. India is well-positioned to be among the fastest-growing major economies globally in the current year.

Choueiri acknowledged the global challenges faced by the Indian economy, emphasizing the impact of global headwinds, including a slowdown in global growth within an increasingly fragmented world. Despite these challenges, India’s resilience and consistent growth contribute significantly to the overall global economic landscape.
