A powerful 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck northwestern China, resulting in over a hundred deaths and numerous injuries.

The epicenter was in Gansu Province, where at least 100 people lost their lives, with an additional 11 fatalities reported in Qinghai Province.

The quake inflicted extensive damage to homes, roads, plumbing, and electricity lines. President Xi Jinping has called for a comprehensive search and rescue effort, prompting emergency authorities to appeal for 300 additional workers. China is mobilizing resources to prioritize safety and minimize the impact of the disaster.
