Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, have reached an agreement to resolve their political feud.
The resolution, following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, includes dropping all impeachment proceedings against the governor immediately. Other points involve recognizing Martin Amaewhule as the speaker, reinstating the 27 lawmakers who defected, and ensuring the remunerations and benefits of all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly are reinstated without interference from the executive arm.
The agreement also addresses the seating and legislative business location, state budget representation, and re-submission of resigned commissioners’ names for approval by the House of Assembly.
Additionally, it rejects the appointment of a caretaker committee for the local governments in Rivers State, declaring the dissolution of the local government administration null and void.
