In a state broadcast on Thursday morning, Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State offered a heartfelt call for togetherness and a collective push towards rapid growth. Aiyedatiwa, who was entrusted with the tasks during his principal’s sick leave, highlighted the importance of returning the state on a quick development trajectory.
Addressing the citizens of the South-West state, Aiyedatiwa urged them not to waver in their prayers for the swift recovery of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, highlighting the crucial role unity plays in overcoming challenges. He stressed the need to discard unnecessary distractions, fostering a united front and shared purpose.
“We must excuse unnecessary distractions. We can no longer be separated in interest or divided in purpose. We must stand together until the end. We must come back stronger and more determined to advance the welfare and security of our people,” affirmed Aiyedatiwa, underscoring the government’s commitment to the well-being of the people.
Reflecting on recent events, Aiyedatiwa deemed the aborted impeachment process against him and other political intrigues as “avoidable distractions.” Acknowledging the impact of Governor Akeredolu’s health challenges, he emphasized the importance of acknowledging the limitations imposed by nature and the necessity of prayers for divine intervention.
“At this juncture, permit me to say that only God Almighty has explanations for what happened in the last few months. When nature sets in to hinder human performance, it is always a painful thing. We must acknowledge that the key to the well-being of a man is in the hands of God,” stated Aiyedatiwa.
Expressing gratitude, the acting governor thanked the President and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their support during the challenging period. He recognized their role in providing succor to Ondo State, affirming the need for seamless governance to uphold the legacy established by Governor Akeredolu in the last six-and-a-half years.
