In an announcement jointly made by FOX and the Television Academy on Wednesday, actor and comedian Anthony Anderson is slated to host the 75th Annual Emmy Awards in January. Traditionally held in September, this year’s ceremony was delayed due to recent industry-wide strikes, which included protests from writers and actors.

Reflecting on the industry’s recent challenges, Anderson expressed anticipation for a return to the beloved Emmy tradition of celebrating achievements in television. The strikes, which concluded in September and November, respectively, prompted the rescheduling of the prestigious event.

Renowned for his leading role in the comedy series ‘Black-ish,’ where he also serves as a writer, Anthony Anderson has received 11 Emmy nominations. His multifaceted talent and contribution to the industry have earned him recognition.

Frank Scherma, the Chair of the Television Academy, praised Anderson’s versatility, describing him as a “multi-talented performer and a great friend to the Television Academy.” The event, scheduled for January 15, will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on FOX from 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET.
