The Ekiti State Police Command is determined to apprehend the culprits behind a recent bank robbery in Ikere-Ekiti, where two new-generation banks were targeted on Wednesday evening. The robbers made away with an undisclosed sum of money, and three individuals are feared dead.
In response to the incidents, the state’s police spokesperson, Abutu Sunday, revealed that Commissioner of Police Ogundare Dare visited the robbery scenes for an immediate assessment. Expressing displeasure, CP Dare directed the Ikere Area Commander and Tactical Teams to ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
According to Sunday, tactical squads and deployed soldiers engaged the criminals, who abandoned three vehicles and two motorcycles before fleeing into the bush. The police urged anyone with relevant information to assist in identifying and locating the suspects.
The Commissioner extended condolences to affected families and wished a speedy recovery to those undergoing treatment. CP Dare called for calm, assuring the public that the Command is relentless in ensuring the criminals face the full force of the law.
