Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 50th goal for club and country in 2023 as Al-Nassr defeated Al-Shabab 5-2 in the quarter-finals of the King’s Cup.
The Portuguese superstar netted in the 74th minute after strikes from team-mates Seko Fofana, Sadio Mane and Abdulrahman Ghareeb, with Mohammed Maran also getting himself on the scoresheet in stoppage time.
Ronaldo has been on fire in the Saudi Pro League this season, the 38-year-old scoring 16 goals and registering eight assists in 15 appearances.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored and provided an assist in Al-Nassr’s 4-1 victory over Al-Riyadh — the Portuguese forward’s 1,200th professional match.
Ronaldo broke the deadlock after 31 minutes to notch his 16th goal in 15 outings this season, cementing his spot as the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer.
The 38-year-old posted on social media: “Three more points! Thankful to all my team-mates who helped me reach my 1,200th match. What a ride but we’re not done yet!”
Saudi Pro League sporting director Michael Emenalo would be delighted to welcome Lionel Messi to the division, despite being snubbed for Major League Soccer earlier this year.
Emenalo said: “The reasons that he ended up in MLS is something that I don’t have answers to.
“If he decides next season that he wants to come here, we will be happy to welcome him.”
