In the aftermath of the recent accidental military air strike at Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, emphasized the critical importance of adequate funding for the military and other security agencies to address contemporary and emerging security challenges facing the nation.
During his visit to the victims at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna on Tuesday, Obi called on the Federal Government to prioritize funding for the military to enhance their operations and prevent incidents like accidental bombings from recurring. Expressing concern, he highlighted that the nation has witnessed 16 accidental military bombings resulting in over 500 casualties, without substantial preventive measures taken by the Federal Government.
The former governor of Anambra State underscored the necessity of supporting the military to prevent incidents like accidental bombings. He further supported calls for an investigation into the military air strike and advocated for the establishment of a foundation to support the victims of the Tudun Biri drone attack, especially those orphaned by the tragic incident.
