Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML, shed light on the challenges preventing Nigerian artists from touring the country despite their global success. In a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria’s Kayode Oladotun, also known as Do2dtun, the acclaimed singer highlighted the lack of infrastructure as a major hurdle.

According to Fireboy, while Nigerian music has garnered international acclaim, the absence of a robust structure makes it difficult for artists to organize tours within the country. Expressing his thoughts on the current state of the industry, he stated, “Everyone is saying ‘Afrobeats to the world.’ The music is perfect. But there is no structure.”

He went on to address the need for well-equipped arenas in Lagos, emphasizing the potential for bringing fans from around the globe to experience live performances. Fireboy remarked, “When are they going to come to Lagos and watch us perform? When are we going to have arenas in Lagos where we can bring people from all around the world? You know, it [structure] will make everything just easier.”

When questioned about the affordability of arena shows for Nigerian fans, Fireboy expressed confidence in their willingness to pay for such experiences. He stated, “Yeah, they will. We already are. We just need to give people the incentive to pay. If you build a proper arena in Lagos, people would want to pay [gate fees] because they know that they are safe.”
