President Bola Tinubu is set to make a landmark visit to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, a significant move marking his first journey to the region since assuming office. This visit underscores a watershed moment in the President’s tenure as he prioritizes national unity and confronts pressing issues facing Maiduguri and its neighboring districts.

Departing from the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 10:36 AM on Monday morning, President Tinubu’s visit holds symbolic importance, signaling a proactive approach to addressing regional challenges and reinforcing the principle of a united nation.

The President’s visit to the northeastern part of the country coincides with his attendance at the Nigerian Army Annual Conference, where he assumes the role of the Special Guest of Honour. The conference, themed “Personnel Motivation for Effective Operational Performance in a Joint Environment,” holds paramount significance in the Nigerian Army’s annual calendar due to its implications for national security, peace, and stability.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, outlined the agenda for the Opening Ceremony, which includes an address to the troops of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI. President Tinubu will also inspect the ongoing Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Maiduguri and lay the foundation stone of Headquarters 7 Division.

Furthermore, the conference will provide a platform for an in-depth review of ongoing operational engagements of the Nigerian Army across all theaters of operations within the year. This comprehensive evaluation is crucial for making informed decisions aimed at addressing multifaceted security challenges in the country.

During the conference, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd), a former Chief of Army Staff, is scheduled to present a paper titled “Whole of Society Approach and Military Operations in Nigeria.” Additionally, there will be a significant ceremony for the commissioning of Nigerian Army Civil Military Cooperation projects designed to bring relief to communities in Borno State.

President Tinubu’s presence at the conference not only highlights his commitment to national security but also emphasizes the collaborative effort required to ensure effective operational performance. The face-to-face interaction with senior officers, including General Officers Commanding and Field Commanders, underscores the President’s dedication to guiding and enhancing Nigerian Army operations and activities.
