Having achieved international acclaim in 2019, Burna Boy has now reached another milestone by becoming the first African artist to sell out the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany. On December 9, 2023, Burna Boy successfully filled the 17,000-capacity venue as part of his ‘I Told Them’ world tour, adding another historic achievement to his list of sold-out venues.

This accomplishment follows Burna Boy’s earlier achievements this year, including being the first African artist to headline a stadium concert in the United Kingdom and selling out the London stadium. He also made history as the first African to sell out a stadium in the United States with a packed show at the Citi Field stadium in New York.

In 2023, Burna Boy continued to solidify his position as a global icon in African music. His seventh album, ‘I Told Them,’ made history by becoming his fourth consecutive album to receive Grammy nominations. For the 2024 Grammys, Burna Boy earned four nominations, with his hit single ‘City Boy’ nominated for Best African Music Performance, ‘Alone’ nominated for Best Global Music Performance, and his collaboration ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance. Notably, this marks Burna Boy as the first Nigerian to be nominated as a lead artist outside of the global categories.
