Tragic Road Crash Claims 16 Lives, Leaves 27 Injured on Kaduna-Abuja Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, has reported a devastating road crash on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway resulting in 16 fatalities and 27 individuals sustaining injuries.

 

According to the Sector Commander, Mr Kabir Nadabo, the tragic incident occurred at Audu Jhangon village along the expressway on Sunday at 05:20hrs. The accident involved a DAF TRAILER with registration number KUJ 430XC, laden with overloaded goods, which lost control and plunged into a ditch.

 

Nadabo explained that preliminary reports suggested the driver was operating at high speed, possibly influenced by fatigue.

 

“The combined rescue teams of RS1.114 Zhipe Unit Command and RS1.16B Dutse Outpost conducted the rescue operations. The crash involved 65 people, with 27 sustaining injuries and 16 unfortunate individuals losing their lives,” he stated.

 

The injured victims have been promptly transported to the nearest hospital for necessary medical attention.

 

In response to the incident, Nadabo personally visited the crash site to gather first-hand information and coordinate the rescue team’s efforts in evacuating the deceased to the morgue.
