Wike Launches Phase II of Road Rehabilitation in FCT, Targeting 49 Roads in Asokoro

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has officially inaugurated the second phase of the road rehabilitation and resurfacing project in Abuja. This phase will encompass 49 roads in Asokoro and its surrounding areas, following the previous Phase I that covered 135 roads in Garki. The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to transform Abuja into a more fitting and functional capital city.

During the inauguration ceremony held in Abuja, the former Governor of Rivers state highlighted the commitment to maintain and optimize public infrastructure in the dynamic environment of the city. Minister Wike assured residents that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, emphasizing the availability of funds for the extensive road rehabilitation.

President Bola Tinubu’s directive to enhance the overall infrastructure of the FCT was emphasized by Minister Wike, expressing the administration’s dedication to improving the welfare and livelihood of Abuja residents. He disclosed that similar projects for roads in Wuse and Maitama Districts are in the pipeline and slated for inauguration before the year’s end, with a promise of completion before May 2024.

Acknowledging the National Assembly’s swift approval of the N61.6 billion supplementary budget for project funding, Minister Wike commended the foresight of the President Tinubu-led administration. He highlighted the transformation of Abuja into a construction hub, revitalizing abandoned sites and turning the city into a bustling center of development.
