American rapper Bill Kapri, widely known as Kodak Black, found himself back in legal trouble after being arrested on Thursday in South Florida. The 26-year-old artist faces charges of cocaine possession, evidence tampering, and violating his existing probation.
According to a police statement, Kodak Black was discovered asleep in a Bentley around 3 a.m. in Plantation, where drugs were found on his person.
Following his arrest, the rapper was taken into custody at Broward County jail. However, NBC Miami reported that he managed to secure his release on Thursday night after posting bail.
This is not the first encounter with the law for Kodak Black. In January 2021, former U.S. President Donald Trump commuted his 46-month prison sentence, which stemmed from falsifying information on federal forms to purchase firearms. This decision was made on Trump’s last full day in office.
The rapper’s legal history includes a previous seven-month stint in a Florida prison for charges such as marijuana possession, child neglect, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additionally, Kodak Black has faced charges related to weapons possession, armed robbery, sexual assault, probation violations, and fleeing from officers in the past.
