The Delta State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is urging motorists to prioritize safety during the yuletide season to prevent accidents. Mr. Bassey Eshiet, the Sector Commander, emphasized the collective responsibility of motorists, pedestrians, and all road users in ensuring road safety.

In an interview with NAN in Asaba on Friday, Eshiet underscored the importance of individual vigilance on the road. He encouraged drivers to maintain a safety-conscious mindset, emphasizing the need to keep a safe distance from other vehicles, discard worn-out tires, and take necessary precautions.

Eshiet particularly advised travelers to plan their journeys, assess their fitness for travel, and rest if needed. He highlighted the significance of emotional well-being, suggesting that individuals who are emotionally disturbed or unfit for the journey should abstain from driving.

To enforce road traffic rules and regulations, Eshiet revealed plans for a substantial deployment of officers and men to major roads and highways in the area throughout the yuletide season. The deployment will include an increased presence on the Niger Bridge, with strategic camps established for coordination.

In efforts to enhance emergency response, Eshiet disclosed the readiness of toying trucks and fully functional ambulances to promptly address any road obstructions or accidents. The FRSC is set to deploy approximately seven patrol vehicles in Asaba alone during this festive season, aiming to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable travel experience for commuters.
