A high court in Zamfara State has condemned Anas Dahiru to death by hanging for murdering his friend, Shamsu Ibrahim, during a dispute over one hundred Naira in 2017.
The presiding justice, Mukhtar Yusha’u, affirmed that the court, after hearing both sides, was convinced of Anas’s guilt. The death penalty was imposed under section 221 of the Penal Code.
Additionally, another individual, Sadiqu Abubakar, was sentenced to life imprisonment for attempted armed robbery in Bungudu Local Government Area. The prosecution welcomed the judgment, while the defense indicated they might explore the option of an appeal.
