Residents of some parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are set to experience a temporary power outage on Thursday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) conducts planned maintenance on its 132/22kV Apo Transmission Substation. The General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, Ndidi Mbah, provided this information in a statement released on Thursday.

The scheduled maintenance on the Apo substation is slated to commence from 10:00 a.m. and will continue until 2:00 p.m. During this period, power supply from Abuja Distribution Company to customers within Asokoro and its surroundings will be temporarily interrupted to facilitate the maintenance work.

Mbah’s statement reads, “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) hereby states that its maintenance crew will carry out scheduled maintenance on its H5 33kV feeder in 132/33kV Apo Transmission Substation. The Maintenance exercise will be held today, Thursday, 7th December 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for only four hours. Consequently, Abuja DisCo will be unable to supply electricity to its customers within Asokoro and its Environs for four hours.”

This announcement follows a similar maintenance exercise conducted by TCN on its Kubwa substation earlier in the week. The temporary inconvenience is part of routine efforts to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the power transmission infrastructure.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements for the temporary power outage during the maintenance period. The TCN assures that the interruption is temporary, and normal power supply will be restored after the completion of the scheduled maintenance.
