Erling Haaland may potentially face an FA charge for using social media to express criticism towards referee Simon Hooper after the intense 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The official had booked Haaland for dissent during the match when he expressed frustration after Hooper chose not to play advantage following a foul on him by Emerson Royal, with Jack Grealish approaching the goal in added time.
A visibly upset Haaland engaged in a disagreement with Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso while leaving the pitch. He then continued to vent his frustration on social media by posting ‘WTF’ (an abbreviation for ‘What The F—-k’) alongside an image of the incident.
When questioned about Haaland’s reaction post-match, City manager Guardiola characterized it as a typical response.
