Nigerian sensation Rema has decided to prioritize his health by canceling all scheduled performances for the month of December. The afrobeats star made the announcement through his Instagram story, revealing that he has been neglecting his well-being during his extensive tour.

Rema expressed his regret, stating, “Breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December. I have been touring and I’ve ignored my health and I need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again.”

The news prompted a supportive response from fellow afrobeats star Davido, who acknowledged the challenges of the industry. In an Instagram story, Davido wrote, “The job ain’t easy, physically and mentally. You’ve done Africa and the world proud beyond expectations. Get some rest king @heisrema, come back stronger.”

Renowned for his international hit, “Calm Down,” which has shattered streaming and chart records, the 23-year-old Rema recently delivered a dramatic performance at London’s O2 Arena, boasting a 20,000-seater capacity.

The canceled tour dates were initially set for Abuja, Benin, and Lagos, with an additional performance scheduled for the Hey Neighbour Festival in South Africa on December 9. Uncertainty looms regarding the fate of already purchased tickets, as it remains unclear whether fans will be refunded or if their tickets will be valid for rescheduled dates in 2024.
