Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu, has unequivocally declared his intention to run for governor in the 2024 election, choosing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform. Making this announcement at the Bishop Kelly Centre in Benin, Shuaibu confidently stated, “Nobody can stop my ambition,” underlining his commitment to the race.

Describing himself as a “homeboy” who understands the people’s plight, Shuaibu urged both the electorate and party members to rally behind his aspirations. With 30 years in politics and seven years working alongside Governor Godwin Obaseki in the state’s rebuilding efforts, he positioned himself as the ideal successor to his current principal.

In a live broadcast on Monday, Shuaibu outlined his promise to deliver practical governance if elected governor in 2024. His assurance adds substance to his bid, emphasizing the wealth of experience and dedication he brings to the table.

Shuaibu’s confidence in the unstoppable nature of his ambition reflects the dynamics that will shape the political landscape in Edo State. The election, set for September 21, as confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), marks a crucial juncture in the state’s political trajectory.
