The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Rivers State has made the unexpected claim that former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State was instrumental in Bola Tinubu’s victory in the most recent presidential election.

During a press conference at the inauguration of the APC Caretaker Committee at the party secretariat in Abuja on Friday, Mr. Tony C. Okocha, the caretaker chairman of the APC in Rivers state said this.

Okocha said in response to a question about the possible admission of FCT Minister Wike, he said, “We needed someone who was the major participant in the cooking of the food (referencing to President Tinubu’s victory at the polls. We needed to ride on his back.

“As we speak Nyesome Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory is not a member of the APC today. But he was the architect of Tinubu and APC in the presidential election. And so we felt that what was due him was give him what he deserves,” he said

The party did not provide explicit details on the nature of former Governor Wike’s alleged involvement but suggested that his influence extended to crucial behind-the-scenes efforts, labeling him the “architect” of Tinubu’s success. This assertion has generated speculation and raised questions about the dynamics of political alliances and strategies at play.

Political analysts and observers are closely monitoring reactions from within and outside wondered where this leaves former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, the APC leader in the state.
