In response to the ongoing leadership discord between Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, President Bola Tinubu has taken a mediating role. Sources from the Villa reveal that President Tinubu has summoned members of the Ondo Assembly to a meeting in Abuja on Friday, November 24, at the State House.
This intervention comes after appeals from prominent elders and traditional rulers who urged President Tinubu to address the political crisis and prevent potential chaos. Reports indicate that the Ondo Assembly is currently divided, with 11 lawmakers now aligning with Aiyedatiwa. Sources suggest that external forces have reached out to these lawmakers outside the boundaries of Ondo State.
One of the lawmakers, who craved anonymity, said the sitting was part of the plans hatched in Abuja with the 11 lawmakers to declare Governor Akeredolu incapacitated and declare Aiyedatiwa Governor.
