Mr. Tony Akuneme, the Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command, has emphasized the organization’s dedication to employee welfare. The statement came during Akuneme’s visit to officers involved in a fatal traffic accident on the Kano-Zaria motorway.

In a press release by Mr. Ifeanyi Uche, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Akuneme not only reassured the affected personnel of the NIS’s unwavering commitment to their full treatment and rehabilitation but also conveyed the Comptroller General, Caroline Adepoju’s, pledge to cover all financial obligations arising from the tragic incident.

The accident, which occurred as four NIS personnel were returning to Abuja after an official assignment in Kano, resulted in fatalities and injuries. The visit to the injured personnel at the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital aimed to offer support and assurances regarding their recovery and well-being.

This commitment to staff welfare aligns with broader efforts by government agencies to prioritize the health, safety, and overall well-being of their personnel.
