As the festive season approaches, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is cautioning passengers against traveling at night due to potential safety hazards. Mr. Ibrahim Maiyaki-Bazama, the FRSC Sector Commander in Katsina State, conveyed this warning during a press conference held on Friday in Katsina.

While emphasizing that individuals have the freedom of movement, Maiyaki-Bazama highlighted the FRSC’s responsibility to implement measures aimed at minimizing road crashes. One such measure, he mentioned, is the encouragement for people to refrain from or limit night travels during the festive period.

The commander pointed out the inherent risks of driving at night, stating that the limited visibility beyond the reach of the vehicle’s lights poses a significant danger. In the event of an accident, the challenges of securing timely assistance are compounded during nighttime travel.

Maiyaki-Bazama assured the public that the FRSC has standby rescue teams prepared to respond to emergencies promptly. These teams are strategically stationed at five command units in Funtua, Daura, Koza, Malumfashi, and Kankia, ready to deploy in case of any unforeseen incidents.
