The Lagos Coroner Court has revealed that the crucial aspect of an autopsy to ascertain the cause of the late singer Mohbad’s death is currently underway in the United States of America (USA).
During a session on Wednesday, O. Akinde, the state counsel, informed Coroner Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi that the examination of the external body of the deceased has been concluded. This announcement followed concerns raised by David Fadimu, the counsel to Mohbad’s father, along with David Nawoola of TNKay Music Worldwide and O.S.A. Aranmolaran, the representative of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikorodu.
Akinde clarified, stating, “The toxicology test, which pertains to the internal body, is currently being conducted in the US.”
Mohbad’s demise on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances led to his burial the following day in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. In response to public outcry and in compliance with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun’s order for a forensic investigation, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, established a 10-member team, including a pathologist, to exhume the singer’s corpse and investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
