The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, expressed commendation for the recent judgment of the Appeal Court Abuja, which upheld the election victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule in Nasarawa State.
This development follows the earlier decision by the tribunal, led by Justice Esther Ajayi on October 2, which had initially removed Governor Sule of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and declared David Ombugado of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner. However, a significant turn of events occurred on November 23 when the Appeal Court nullified the tribunal’s judgment, reaffirming Governor Sule as the duly elected Governor of Nasarawa State.
In response to the Appeal Court’s verdict, Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi extended his congratulations to Governor Sule, emphasizing the credibility of the appellate court. He called for calm among supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and highlighted the significance of Governor Sule’s victory for peace, unity, and sustainable development in the state.
The Speaker conveyed his felicitations to the people of Nasarawa State, emphasizing that the Governor’s triumph is not just a personal victory but a collective one for the well-being and economic prosperity of the state.
“On behalf of myself, family, principal officers, members, and the entire staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, I wish to congratulate His Excellency, Gov Abdullahi Sule on his victory at the Court of Appeal today in Abuja,” said Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi.
He reiterated that the Appeal Court’s decision affirms the mandate freely given to Governor Abdullahi Sule by the people during the March Governorship election. Additionally, he congratulated the APC family for the resounding victory at the Court of Appeal.
The Speaker took a moment to appreciate the legal team representing the APC for their effective presentation of evidence at the Court of Appeal, which contributed to Governor Sule’s success.
