Scores of terrorists were killed in a successful air raid operation carried out by the air component of Operation Whirl Punch in Kaduna State’s Igabi Local Government Area. An intelligence tip indicating the presence of a prominent terrorist kingpin, named as Boderi, and his organization in the targeted site sparked the operation.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that the air operations were highly successful. The intelligence-driven mission led to the neutralization of numerous terrorists at Tsauni Doka in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Following the triumph in the initial operation, the Nigerian Air Force swiftly initiated another mission aimed at Boderi’s brother. The two siblings, Boderi and Nasiru, were identified as key figures responsible for orchestrating several attacks on communities in Kaduna State and its surrounding areas.
According to Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, “Nigerian Air Force aircraft under Operation Whirl Punch have sustained air strikes against terrorists operating in the North-West and North Central region of the country.” The subsequent strikes, executed in the early hours of November 16, 2023, delivered devastating consequences to the terrorists. Another targeted location, approximately 500 meters east of Boderi’s hideout, believed to be the refuge of Boderi’s brother Nasiru, was also subjected to air strikes with highly successful outcomes. Numerous terrorists were neutralized, and their means of transportation, motorcycles, were effectively destroyed in the process.
The decisive actions taken by Operation Whirl Punch underscore the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to eradicating terrorist threats in the region.
