Hanks Anuku, a seasoned figure in the Nigerian film industry is reaching out to Nigerians for financial support, revealing his prolonged struggle with unemployment and hand-to-mouth living.
In November 2022, Anuku made headlines when a distressing video surfaced online, depicting him in tattered clothes while wandering the streets and seemingly talking to himself. The actor, however, clarified that it was part of a movie set, dispelling rumors of mental illness.
Recently spotted in better condition during a brief encounter at a petrol station in Asaba, Delta, Anuku has now taken to Instagram to convey a video message, appealing to Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta state, and the Nigerian public to assist him in his current situation.
Anuku said despite being a “legend”, he has been finding it difficult to feed and does not have a job. “Oh boy. Well, I am going to address my fans. Those who truly love me, including my governor, Sheriff. I have worked for this country. I have attained the height of being a legend. I have got no job, God knows for how many years,” he said.
“I expect Nigerians also to know that I did it all for them. And if you truly love me. I am just going to ask Governor Sheriff to please support me. And to my fans who truly love me and appreciate the work I have done for them. I will send my account number and if you think you truly love me. May God help you all. Help me. Thank you.”
