Google has revealed plans to permanently delete inactive Gmail accounts starting from December 1, according to a blog post. An account is considered inactive if the user has not logged in or engaged in any activity for a period of two years.

This policy, applicable to personal accounts, allows Google to delete data from accounts that have been inactive for the specified duration.

The blog post states, “Google products reserve the right to delete your data when your account has not been used for a 2-year period. Due to this policy, December 1, 2023, is the earliest a Google Account will be deleted.”

Google defines activities that prevent an account from being deemed inactive as signing in, using Google Drive, reading or sending an email, watching a YouTube video, downloading an app, and searching and sharing photos. Users are advised to ensure activity in their accounts to prevent deletion under this policy.
