NASS Vows Commitment to Affordable Housing for All Nigerians

Senator Aminu Tambuwal, representing PDP-Sokoto South and also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing and Urban Development, has affirmed the National Assembly’s dedication to ensuring the provision of affordable housing for all Nigerians. The commitment was reiterated during the 12th meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing, and Urban Development held in Kaduna.

The theme of the meeting, “Harnessing Local and International Credit Schemes as a Panacea for Affordable Housing Infrastructure Development Under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” reflects the assembly’s focus on exploring viable solutions for affordable housing.

Senator Tambuwal acknowledged the challenges faced in achieving this goal but expressed confidence that with practical and implementable ideas, coupled with collaboration with local and international stakeholders, the task is surmountable. He emphasized the importance of investments in construction as a means to redistribute wealth, and he assured that the National Assembly would partner with all relevant stakeholders to provide housing solutions for the growing population.

Highlighting the significance of funding in addressing challenges within the housing sector, Tambuwal emphasized the need for affordable funding as a crucial component in solving the issues facing the industry. He affirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to doing the right thing to ensure that every Nigerian has access to well-suited and affordable housing.

Tambuwal stressed the importance of working collaboratively to overcome the obstacles in the housing sector. He expressed optimism that by addressing the challenges and providing affordable funding, the National Assembly, along with its partners, would contribute significantly to enhancing the housing sector in Nigeria.
