Napoli has officially announced the dismissal of Rudi Garcia from the position of manager following a series of disappointing performances, culminating in a defeat against Empoli. The Italian club has swiftly appointed Walter Mazzarri as the new head coach, marking his return after a decade.

Walter Mazzarri, an Italian former footballer and experienced manager, takes over the reins at Napoli as they aim to recover from a 10-point gap behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan. Mazzarri, known for his coaching stints with various Italian clubs, including Sampdoria, brings a wealth of experience to the team.

The decision to part ways with Garcia was made after Napoli’s unsatisfactory display in the recent 1-0 home loss to Empoli, triggering discontent among the supporters. Garcia’s tenure saw the team fall behind in the Serie A title race, prompting the club’s leadership to take decisive action.

Walter Mazzarri’s return to Napoli was met with enthusiasm from owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, who welcomed him back on social media with a simple “Welcome back Walter!” on X (formerly Twitter). The appointment of Mazzarri is initially on a deal until the end of the current season.

As Napoli undergoes this managerial transition, the club aims to regain its footing in Serie A and overcome internal challenges, including reported misunderstandings between the team and Ballon d’Or nominee Victor Osimhen. The Italian side hopes that Mazzarri’s leadership will bring about positive changes and propel them back into contention for the league title.
