The National Coordinator of the Network for Peoples Congress (NPC), Malam Ladan Mohammed, has called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to intervene and breathe new life into the struggling Public Complaints Commission (PCC).
Mohammed emphasized the challenges faced by the PCC in effectively fulfilling its mandate, citing limited accessibility to the National Assembly’s complaint resolution channels for a significant portion of the Nigerian populace. This limited access has led to the Commission being overlooked, hindering its ability to address issues of social and administrative injustice effectively.
In a recent fact-finding mission conducted by Order Paper, critical issues plaguing the PCC were brought to light. The Commission, tasked with investigating cases of injustice, has suffered from ineffective leadership and inadequate funding. Strikes by Commission staff over the past eight years have underscored the lack of attention from both internal leadership and the National Assembly.
Malam Ladan Mohammed asserted that the 10th National Assembly, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, holds a pivotal role in revitalizing the nearly defunct Ombudsman of the country. The objective is to instill confidence in ordinary Nigerians, ensuring they can seek social justice under the renewed hope administration.
