Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has distributed financial help worth 427,750,000 Naira to 1,709 widows and orphans of Nigerian Armed Forces members in a humane attempt to support the families of fallen heroes. The initiative, which is part of RHI’s social investment program, aims to improve the well-being of vulnerable groups throughout the country.
During the presentation of the relief package to beneficiaries representing various regions, Senator Tinubu, through her media aide Busola Kukoyi, acknowledged the challenging journey of the recipients as wives and children of gallant soldiers. She stressed the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by these soldiers in the defense of the nation, emphasizing the need for adequate welfare in return.
Senator Tinubu expressed hope that the financial intervention would provide relief to the beneficiaries and called on other stakeholders to consider the dependents of fallen soldiers in their initiatives. She stated, “This will enable you to recapitalize an existing business or start a business of your choice to enable you to care for your families. We recognize that widows are not victims; they are survivors.”
General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, commended Senator Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Initiative for prioritizing the welfare of widows. Represented by Major-General Danladi Salisu, he highlighted the positive impact of the financial support on the families of fallen heroes, noting its potential to boost the morale of serving members of the Armed Forces.
