Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has affirmed a commitment to expedite the approval of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for the land designated to the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This land is slated for the establishment of a trade fair and exhibition center.
Represented by the State Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, at the closing ceremony of the annual Lagos International Trade Fair, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized his administration’s dedication to enhancing the business environment, aiming to attract more investments.
Under the T.H.E.M.E.S Development Agenda, now known as T.H.E.M.E.S.+ Agenda, the government has proactively addressed infrastructure challenges. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for both living and business activities.
He pledged to sustain the prioritization of key infrastructure projects, fostering safety, security, functionality, and productivity. This, he believes, will serve as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth, leveraging the active participation of a motivated private sector.
Speaking at the same event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperative, Trade, and Investment, Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, highlighted Lagos State’s crucial role as the economic nerve center of Nigeria, contributing approximately 25 per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
Ambrose-Medebem noted an impressive eight per cent growth in the state’s non-oil sector over the past year. This growth underscores the resilience and innovation of the industrious business community. She emphasized the substantial contribution of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, constituting about 80 per cent of the state’s employment and playing a pivotal role in job creation and economic development.
