The driver of the Honda saloon car with license plate EPE 984 DV, which was engaged in the regrettable incident with sweepers from the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) on Monday morning along the Gbagada Expressway, has turned himself in to the police of his own volition.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the surrender took place on Monday night. Confirming the turn of events, Hundeyin stated that the driver will be presented in court on Tuesday, facing charges of manslaughter.
Hundeyin clarified, “The owner of the Honda Saloon car turned himself in yesterday (Monday) night, and he will be taken to court today for manslaughter. It was not murder; it was an accident and was not deliberate, so he will be charged with manslaughter.”
