Uzodimma secured a second term in office, winning in all 27 local government areas of the state, but the opposition parties called for a total poll cancellation, alleging collusion between security agents and APC members for election rigging.
In Kogi, the APC candidate, Usman Ododo, emerged the winner with 446,237 votes, while results from Brass and Southern Ijaw local government areas in Bayelsa are expected to be announced on Monday.
Despite the controversies, Uzodimma commended INEC and security agencies, stating that the election was free, fair, and very credible. However, the opposition vows to challenge the results in court, claiming irregularities and demanding a cancellation of the poll.
LP’s Athan Aconu stated, “Our democracy was raped in the full glare of security personnel, whose salaries we pay from our commonwealth.”
The situation remains tense as stakeholders await further developments and the resolution of the disputes.
