The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken prompt action in response to emerging reports of filled results sheets in the ongoing Kogi Gubernatorial Polls. The electoral body, responsible for ensuring free and fair elections, has swiftly addressed concerns to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

In a press release issued today, INEC emphasized its commitment to transparency and fairness, assuring the public that all reported incidents are being thoroughly investigated.

The Commission reiterated its dedication to conducting credible elections that reflect the true will of the people.  The alleged filled results sheets, if proven true, could potentially compromise the legitimacy of the electoral outcome. INEC has called for calm among stakeholders and the public, urging them to await the outcome of the investigation before drawing conclusions.

In a press release posted on Twitter (now X), the Commission stated, “Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.

“The Commission views this situation seriously.   “Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly.”

The Commission has also urged political parties, candidates, and their supporters to adhere to the electoral guidelines and maintain a peaceful atmosphere throughout the voting process. Security measures have been heightened to prevent any form of interference that could undermine the electoral integrity.
