Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has declared his unshakeable confidence in securing a second term in office, despite expected challenges from opposition candidates during Saturday’s elections. Governor Uzodinma told Channels Television on Thursday that he believes his successes over the last three years will resonate with voters and lead to a landslide victory.
The final list of candidates published by INEC in October revealed that 18 candidates were cleared to contest the election. However, many observers predict a four-horse race in Imo State during Saturday’s election.
Governor Uzodinma, the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is steadfast in his conviction that his achievements in office will be compelling enough to convince voters of his merit for another term. He highlighted tangible improvements, such as addressing backlogs of unpaid salaries and transforming the state’s infrastructure.
“On Saturday, everyone in Imo State who is eligible to vote will remember they have just received their salary. Before I came, there were backlogs of unpaid salaries,” Governor Uzodinma stated. He emphasized the transformation of roads, hospitals, and overall infrastructure under his leadership, attributing these changes to his commitment to the betterment of the state.
As voters make their way to polling units, Uzodinma pointed to the tangible impacts of his governance, including improvements in the education sector, healthcare services, and the creation of employment opportunities. He asserted that addressing unemployment and idleness has contributed significantly to improving security in the state.
Governor Uzodinma proudly stated, “Today, the young men and women in Imo State are very enthusiastic and very happy because day by day, I bring new ideas and new opportunities to make sure they earn a living and be proud to answer Imo sons and daughters. All these things I have done.”
