The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of Saturday’s governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, warning against any attempts to rig the electoral process.
The PDP has not only mobilized the populace in these states to safeguard their votes within the bounds of the law but has also emphasized its determination to vehemently resist any form of electoral manipulation. The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon Debo Ologunagba, specifically directed this caution towards Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, and the APC governorship candidate, Usman Ododo. Ologunagba urged them to respect the people’s will and be prepared to concede defeat should the election results reflect such an outcome.
According to Ologunagba, PDP candidates are reportedly leading in various entrance polls, and any deviation from the people’s will at the polling units will be met with strong resistance.
In the context of Imo State, the PDP disclosed receiving messages and visits from notable citizens expressing support for the PDP candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. The party challenged Governor Uzodimma to disclose the names of those who allegedly donated money to his campaign, highlighting concerns about the reported negative impact of his administration on the state’s economy and security.
Expressing further concerns, the PDP questioned the delay in redeploying the Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Sylvia Agu, by INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. The party urged INEC to honor the wishes of the people and stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
