The All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently refuted false claims leveled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressing unflinching confidence in Governor Hope Uzodinma’s re-election prospects. The PDP had petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Governor Uzodinma, the Executive Governor of Imo State and the APC’s standard-bearer in the governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023. The PDP made the demand on the basis of a dubious claim that Governor Uzodinma was engaged in the fabrication of a viral video announcing the withdrawal of Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP’s Imo State governorship candidate.
Setting the record straight, the APC in a statement signed by Felix Morka, its National Publicity Secretary, emphasized that neither Governor Uzodinma nor the party had any involvement in the production or procurement of the video in question. The Governor and the APC have been diligently focused on their campaign efforts, seeking the support of the Imo electorate for the renewal of their mandate. This commitment, they argue, leaves no room for engagement in what they consider frivolous and unhelpful propaganda.
The APC further asserted that any credible investigation into the origins of the video would likely reveal it as a malicious creation by the PDP. They characterized the PDP’s attempt as calculated but futile, designed to smear Governor Uzodinma and the APC, echoing the baseless and senseless nature of the initial allegation.
Undoubtedly, Governor Uzodinma’s unmatched track record and popularity appear to have triggered a sense of desperation within the PDP. Despite the PDP’s last-minute antics, the APC remains confident that the good people of Imo State will not be swayed. Instead, they believe the electorate is poised to re-elect Governor Uzodinma, allowing him to continue the commendable work he has initiated for the betterment of the state.
