The High Commission of Canada in Nigeria assured the public on Thursday that the visa application centres in Abuja and Lagos remain open, despite the fire outbreak that affected a section of the high commission building in Abuja on Monday.

In a statement addressing the tragic incident and mourning the passing of a dear colleague, the High Commission provided essential information for Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) clients. It assured that the processing of applications continues, emphasizing the operational status of the visa application centres in both Abuja and Lagos.

The statement urged individuals seeking status updates to use the webform provided on the official website. The explosion at a section of the Canadian High Commission building in Abuja on Monday resulted in the tragic loss of two lives, including a local employee, and left two others injured.
