A man suspected of being a motorcycle thief has allegedly been lynched to death by a mob at the Otukpo main roundabout in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, witnesses say.
It was alleged that the suspect had on Tuesday afternoon dispossessed a commercial motorcyclist of his bike and fled with it towards Otukpo – Enugu highway. Some angry motorcyclists in solidarity with their colleague pursued the suspected thief up to the Otukpo town roundabout where he was caught and held down.
The suspect was allegedly beaten to a pulp before he was set ablaze by the mob after the stolen bike was recovered from him.
However, spokeswoman of the Benue State Police, SP. Catherine Anene informed journalists that she or the command were yet to receive the information about the incident.
