The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has hauled the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, to the Federal High Court in Abuja today in a momentous step. The court previously ordered the EFCC to produce Emefiele on Monday or release him unconditionally, but the order was not followed at first, prompting the reissuance of the order and the delay of hearings to Wednesday.
However, the EFCC has now complied with the court order, and Godwin Emefiele was escorted into the court by heavily armed operatives. As of now, the judge has not yet commenced the proceedings.
