President Bola Ahmed Tinubu launched a national agricultural extension policy aimed at improving the dissemination of innovations and technology to farmers to achieve food security. The policy, unveiled during the Sixth Africa-Wide Agricultural Extension Week, will benefit various stakeholders along the agricultural value chains, including extension administrators, subject-matter specialists, extension agents, and farmers.
Tinubu emphasized that the extension policy is designed to provide a demand-driven, efficient, and ICT-enabled extension service that caters to the needs of different stakeholders, including youths, women, and individuals with special needs. The goal is to promote sustainable agriculture and socio-economic development across the country.
Meanwhile, the Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum (YRLF) commended France’s decision to refund the $150 million looted by the late Military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, back to Nigeria as a grant. The group also expressed gratitude to foreign countries assisting Nigeria in recovering stolen money from various financial institutions worldwide.
The President of the YRLF, Akin Malaolu, urged Tinubu to use such repatriated funds judiciously, considering the rising food crisis and unemployment challenges in the country.
